STEVIE'S SAY 26TH DEC 2002

Hi Everyone,

On Thursday morning when I woke up, there was heavy rain. I was wondering if we were going to be racing today. But after breakfast, the weather had cleared up. We got to the track early, because we had a meeting at 4.30.

We were the 2nd class to warm up on the track, so it was really slippery. I spun out alot of times. This was due to the fact that I couldn't go slow, because of a throttle stop problem. We ended up in the infield.

1st Heat:
I was off grid 1. Phillip (Game) was beside me. At the start, I put my foot down, but just wheel spun. I drifted out towards the wall.

I wanted to run the pole-line, but everytime I tried to get back down there, people would shoot past me. I finally got to the pole-line on about lap 5, but I was in last position. About 5 laps into the race, my steering felt weird. As it turned out, the jacobs ladder was binding and making the car handle badly.

2nd Heat:
I was off grid 13. This was last. The car felt good for this race. On about lap 5 I started to feel something wrong with the steering. I worked around the problem by going into the corner and jumping on the brakes, like a handbrake, so the back would come around.

After the race, I found that the steering linkage was bent.

We came last, but we were making progress with the set-up. I think I would have had a good race had the steering not bent.

Feature:
I was off grid 12. The track was nice for this race. About 5 laps into the race, I noticed my front wing was bending. A couple of laps later, it broke off.

The car was really hard to turn-in. I had it going good, but then went a little wide, and it didnt turn in. I saw the wall coming up. I was still trying to turn in. I closed my eyes as tight as I could, then BANG BANG BANG!!!

I was lucky that I didnt flip over. Unfortunately we did a lot of damage. This is the second front end we have broken this season. We will take a break from racing for a while and re-group and hopefully come out BIGGER, BRIGHTER & BETTER!!

Tonight im off to Brisbane and tomorrow night, Ill be at Archerfield watching PJ Chesson and Brent Kaeding. Should be a good trip. Will keep you all up to date.
